🔧 How to Install a Link Digital Dashboard: A Step-by-Step Guide
If you’ve just purchased a Link Digital Driver Display Dashboard, you’re already on your way to better data visibility and a cleaner, more modern cockpit. This guide walks you through the basic steps to get your dash up and running with your Link ECU.
What You’ll Need:
- Link digital dashboard (e.g., MXS Strada, MXG)
- CAN cable and connector loom
- Link ECU (G4X recommended)
- Basic tools (screwdrivers, wire cutters, etc.)
Step 1: Mount the Display
Use a dash mount, bracket, or custom enclosure to position the screen in a visible, glare-free location — typically in the centre of the dash or steering column area.
Step 2: Connect to CAN Bus
Use the supplied Link CAN cable to connect the dash to your ECU’s CAN port. Ensure you match the correct CAN High and CAN Low wires.
Pro Tip: Link dashes are often plug-and-play with Link ECUs. No resistor needed if you're already terminating the bus properly.
Step 3: Configure Dash Settings
Power on your dash and load a compatible Link ECU CAN template (many are preloaded). Adjust which channels you want to display — RPM, oil temp, boost, etc.
Step 4: Power Up and Test
Turn on your ignition. The dash should begin reading live data from the ECU immediately. Cycle through layouts, check for warning lights, and confirm accuracy.
Optional: Add Logging or GPS Modules
If your dash supports internal logging or GPS, now’s the time to connect those modules for advanced telemetry and data review.
